National Grid workers attack a problem area from two sides on Thursday on Hodges Cross Road in North Adams. It wasn't clear if the work had anything to do with a power outage on Tuesday.
Bird Shuts Down Power
ADAMS, Mass. — A wayward bird that flew into a National Grid substation on Zylonite Station Road on Tuesday night at about 10:45 shut down power from Cheshire to Clarksburg for 15 seconds. Some residents along Howland Avenue said they felt a tremor leading them to contact police in fear that something had exploded at Holland Co. across the street. A receptionist at Holland reported everything was fine Wednesday morning.
