BERKSHIRE COUNTY - The South County Center of Berkshire Community College will offer swimming workshops at the Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Great Barrington this fall. All of the following classes are taught by Kate Plaquet and cost for registration is $65 per workshop.
“Adult Beginners Swim Lessons” (WKS 1512) is designed for adults who have never learned to swim and may be uncomfortable around water. The class focuses on increasing the student’s comfort level in the water, basic flotation and safety skills, and beginning front crawl and backstroke skills. Class meets Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 15 through Oct. 20, from 2:30 to 3:30.
“Stroke Improvement” (WKS 1520), a new workshop, is designed for adults who want to learn to swim but may have a fear of the water. This class allows each individual to learn skills and develop a comfort level in the water as they become ready. Class meets Wednesday evening, Sept. 16 through Oct. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30; or Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 3 through Dec. 8, from 2:30 to 3:30.
“Stroke Refinement” (WKS 1519), a new workshop, is designed for adults who want to develop a more efficient swim stroke for recreational or fitness swimming. Class meets Wednesday evening, Nov. 4 through Dec. 9, from 6:30 to 7:30.
