NAACO Gallery presents "Elements"

Print Story | Email Story
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Elements is a month-long exhibition of both gallery members and non-member artists throughout the region. Artists were asked to submit works that might be literal interpretations of the topic, such as a representation of one or more of the four natural elements, objects that are elements of a whole, or even the periodic table of elements.

Non-traditional interpretations of the subject, such as an exploration of what is truly "elemental" to an artists work were also encouraged. "Elements" will be held at the North Adams Artists’ Co-Operative Gallery (NAACO) located at 33 Main Street (corner of Main and Marshall Streets / Route 8) and runs from August 26 through September 20, with an opening reception on Thursday, August 27, 2009, 6-9 PM, held concurrently with all other “DownStreet Art Thursday” programming.

The NAACO Gallery is an independent, member-run organization of 35 active, regional artists exhibiting works in the fields of fine and applied arts. Now entering our third successful month, we are excited to have welcomed over 1,000 visitors since our opening in late June. NAACO is a part of "Downstreet Art", a public art project of MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center which features 27 galleries, museums, and other arts destinations in the city.

The NAACO gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Gallery will also be open additional hours, which generally include Mondays as well as evening hours prior to Mass MoCA events. For more information, please visit www.NAACOGallery.com or call the gallery  at 413-664-4003 during regular business hours.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
