The summer social event, the Mayor's Downtown Celebration is Wednesday, Aug. 19. Paul W. Marino kicks off the celebration with a historical Main Street walk at 5 p.m.

Do you know someone who is starting kindergarten this school year? If so, come to the North Adams Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 20, for a "We're Getting Ready for Kindergarten Program." The annual commemoration of 1746 Siege of Fort Massachusetts will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. in the barracks room of the North Adams Museum of History and Science, third floor (no elevator).
