PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Berkshire Community College will offer new art and painting workshops this fall at its South County Center in Great Barrington. Interested participants are invited to register for the following workshops, and join Harriette Joffe, nationally recognized artist and creative arts coach in intuitive painting and drawing, and experiment with a variety of mediums.
“Art Lover’s Odyssey” (WKS 1580) is an adventure in art for those who enjoy the offbeat, unorthodox approach and opportunity to experience the unusual in the art world. Participants will visit the Berkshire Art Kitchen and meet Artist Gabrielle Senza who has brought a unique opportunity for creativity, connection and change to the Berkshires; attend a private tour of the Frelinghuysen Morris House and Studio which has an exquisite collection of American and European Cubist Art, and engage in conversation on conservation of the art and existing frescos; visit and meet Don Mcgrory, leading authority on the history and philosophy of collection oriental rugs and their influence on art throughout history; immerse in Glam at Petria, a unique world of vintage fashion with Fashion Diva, Petria May; and participate in a collaborative painting/music experience a la Jackson Pollack/John Cage. Class meets Thursday, Oct. 8, 15 and 29, and Nov. 5 and 12, from 9:30 to 12:30. Cost for registration is $150.
“Women’s Studies - Creativity from InSideOut” (WKS 1581) inspires participants to be creative and adventurous through music, dance and painting. This workshop is designed for students who have never touched a paintbrush but have always wanted to, or for the experienced artist looking for new material and inspiration and fresh approach. Class meets Wednesday, Oct. 7, 14 and 28, and Nov. 4 and 18, from 9:30 to 12:30. Cost for registration is $150.
A schedule of locations and meeting places will be available upon registration. Classes are limited to 8 students.
