PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Tickets are now available to area educators for a lecture by Richard Lavoie, sponsored by The Legacy Banks Foundation. Lavoie will present “The Motivation Breakthrough: Secrets to Turning on the Tuned-Out Child,” on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield.

The talk, which is free to educators, is the second in the Education Lecture Series Program launched by Legacy’s Foundation this year – the first featuring Dr. Howard Gardner.

The program brings prominent speakers in the field of education to provide a professional enrichment opportunity for area educators twice each year at no charge to teachers from the over 70 public and private schools throughout Berkshire County.

Those educators interested in attending Lavoie’s presentation, may call The Colonial Theatre Box Office at 413-997-4444 or visit www.thecolonialtheatre.org. Only one ticket may be reserved per person. For more information, please contact Legacy’s Customer Service Call Center at 800-292-6634.

He holds three degrees in special education and has served as an adjunct professor or visiting lecturer at numerous universities including Syracuse, Harvard, Gallaudet, Manhattanville College, University of Alabama and Georgetown. His numerous national television appearances include CBS Morning Show, Good Morning America, ABC Evening News and Disney Channel Presents.
