3rd Annual Youth Block Party At The Pittsfield Common
10:32AM / Wednesday, September 30, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Pittsfield Youth Commission will host the 3rd Annual Youth Block Party at the Common, on First Street, on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 from 12 to 5 pm. This year’s free event has a 70s theme so put on your bell-bottoms and dancing shoes and come out to enjoy live music, dance, and much more.
The free event kicks off with two hours of live music performed by local youth rock bands, and will feature performances throughout the day by the Rhythms B-boys, a Samba band, local hip-hop artist Lady B, and drumming from Youth Alive alumni Jerome Edgerton. The afternoon will include a basketball shooting contest, a skateboarding contest in the skate park, an Oreo-eating contest, a graffiti demonstration and mural creation, a hip 70s fashion show, and a DJ dance party to cap off the festivities.
The event will also have a variety of tasty treats available for purchase from Fat Chicken Bar-B-Que, Liberty Pizza, V’s Ice Cream, and more, as well as information tables and other vendors.
The Pittsfield Youth Commission is continuously working to connect YOUTH throughout Pittsfield in order to create and support new and old community initiatives. We are striving to reach out to all people in Pittsfield, including students, parents, local leaders, and school officials in order to provide them with youth news, activities, and event opportunities, all specifically for teenagers.
