Bark N' Cat expanded its selection of toys for area pets.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city's "pet heaven" has moved and expanded into a Holden Street storefront.

Bark N' Cat, a niche pet store, has nearly quadrupled in size to carry a wider range of food and treats as well as expanding its grooming and training programs for area pets.

"We expanded our lines because of [the expanded] space," co-owner Dawn Lampron said on Thursday. "It’s a hobby and I love pets."

The expansion comes less than a year after Lampron teamed up with fellow pet-lover Christa Abel in January. The two took the business from Eagle Street and moved it into the new location next to Christo’s Famous Pizza. They opened in September and plan to have a grand opening on Dec. 2.

The new, bigger store is an all-in-one packaged trip for pet owners. Along with the friendly service and broad selection of food and toys, the store also integrated grooming and training experts.

Heidi Deane, a groomer, comes in on Tuesdays and every other Saturday and dog trainer Barbara Tran is now giving "positive reinforcement training." The business has even added a tub service — fully stocked with shampoo and a dryer — for pet owners to wash their own pets.

The store's owners emphasis food and treats that do not contain byproducts, fillers and artificial ingredients.
As for the food and treat, the company will continue to emphasis products that do not contain byproducts, fillers and artificial ingredients. The new space allows those options to increase and add speciality foods for furry friends with allergies.

The treats are all natural, sourced in the United States and eco-friendly. They also carry flea and tick protection — with products like Frontline and Advantix. Unlike some other pet stores, Bark N’ Cat holds a natural defense application, Sentry.

"Wellness is a popular brand," Lampron said.

With the winter coming, the store is offering holiday costumes, track jackets and fleeces to help the animals endure the cold weather.

Bark N’ Cat is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Owners are encouraged to bring their pets in with them.

"We love meeting new pets," Lampron said.
