UNITY Program Holding Hygiene Product Drive10:58AM / Friday, February 10, 2012
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — UNITY's Youth Leadership Program (a service-learning initiative of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition) will hold a hygiene and personal-care-product drive for local shelters and food pantries from Monday, Feb. 13, until Tuesday, March 13.
Donation boxes will be placed at Walmart, Drury High School, Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, the First Congregational churches in North Adams and Williamstown, and All Saints Episcopal Church.
There will be separate one-time collections at Stop & Shop and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, with dates and times to be announced.
Any and all hygiene and personal care products will be accepted. Items such as feminine products, men's shaving products, diapers, clean washcloths and towels, and toothpaste and toothbrushes are in the greatest need.
The Youth Leadership Program is a nine-month leadership training and community service-learning program for high school students. Twenty students are recruited from Northern Berkshire County to meet once a week for activities that encourage them to become leaders in the community as well as in their own lives and to identify community needs and develop original service projects to meet those needs.
