Solar Array Presentation Set for Joint Board Meeting

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A special joint meeting of the City Council and boards will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 in the City Council Chambers to hear a presentation on a solar array and power agreement for the city.

Mayor Richard Alcombright is proposing photovoltaic arrays at Harriman & West Airport, Drury High School, the landfill and the old waste-water treatment that could save the city some $11 million in electrical costs over the next two decades.

The arrays would be developed by Blue Wave Capital and installed by RGS Energy. Through a power-purchase agreement, the energy generated would be sold to National Grid with the city getting guaranteed credits to offset power usage in municipal buildings.

The presentation will be broadcast by NBCTV; the regular City Council meeting will follow.
