Greylock Federal Appoints New Board Member

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Stanley B. Walczyk has been selected the newest member of Greylock Federal Credit Union’s volunteer board of directors.

Walczyk’s term began in November 2011. He replaces outgoing board member Linda Porter Kabaniec, who resigned from the Greylock board following her move to a new home outside of Berkshire County.

"We are happy to welcome Stan to the board. We are fortunate to have a community leader with such an extensive business background join our team," said Chairwoman Sheila LaBarbera. "Our membership will benefit from his extensive experience and perspective.”

Walczyk is the owner and president of O’Laughlin’s Home Care Pharmacy and Medical Equipment in Dalton. He is active in Dalton Rotary, having served three terms as president. Walczyk is president of the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy and is a member of the Massachusetts Pharmacist Association, the National Association of Retail Druggists and the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Corp., the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Alumni Association Emeritus, and the Massachusetts Independent Pharmacists Association.


He has served as a trustee for 10 years at Berkshire Community College and is a past chairman of the St. Agnes' Parish Council. Walczyk lives in Dalton with his wife, Paula. They have two grown children, Kate and John.

Dalton Select Board Argues Over Sidewalk Article

DALTON, Mass. — A heated discussion concerning sidewalks during Monday night's Select Board meeting resulted in the acting chair calling a recess to cool the situation. 
 
The debate stemmed from the two articles on the town meeting warrant for May 6 at 7 p.m. at Wahconah Regional High School. 
 
One proposes purchasing a sidewalk paver for $64,000 so sidewalks can be paved or repaired for less money, but they will use asphalt rather than concrete. The other would amend the town's bylaws to mandate the use of concrete for all future sidewalks. 
 
The article on concrete sidewalks was added to the warrant through a citizen petition led by resident Todd Logan. 
 
The board was determining whether to recommend the article when member John Boyle took the conversation in a new direction by addressing how the petition was brought about. 
 
"I just have a comment about this whole procedure. I'm very disappointed in the fact that you [Logan] have been working, lobbying various groups and implementing this plan and filed this petition six weeks ago. You never had any respect for the Select Board and …" Boyle said. 
 
Before Boyle could finish his statement, which was directed to Logan, who was in the audience, Chair Joe Diver called point of order via Zoom.
