NBH Offers CPR, First Aid, Life Support ClassesNORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Northern Berkshire Healthcare will offer classes for cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers on Saturday, March 24, at North Adams Regional Hospital. The class will focus on new American Heart Association guidelines on CPR, which highlight hands-only CPR.
The day will begin with a first aid class from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. That will be followed by a CPR class that covers both beginners and renewals from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is a class for anyone who needs a new or renewal Basic Life Support certification. Prices for classes are: first aid, $25; CPR: new, $40, renewal, $30; CPR and first aid: $65; BLS: new, $65, renewal, $30.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is intended for healthcare professionals seeking a renewal and students entering nursing, medical assistant, surgical technology, and other medical fields. The course expands on the Heartsaver level and includes information on two-person rescuer CPR and rescue breathing. Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) was designed to prepare a wide variety of people who want or need to learn CPR. The course also covers the basics of first aid.
Upon demonstration of the skills taught in the course, the student will receive a Healthcare Provider or Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED course completion card.
