Last year's first Motorama was delayed by Hurricane Irene but still drew more than 100 vehicles to line Main Street.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The 2nd annual Motorama rumbles into the downtown on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 9 to 3.

Holden, North Ashland and Eagle streets will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic as the city fills with cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractors and pretty much anything with an engine.

This event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.

"We had a great response last year and I've had a lot of people asking me when the show is happening this year because they want to bring more vehicles and invite their friends to come," said Joseph Dean of Dean's Quality Auto, one of the organizers.

Motorama hopes to draw more than 300 vehicles for its second effort. Those interested in exhibiting their vehicles can register beginning at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. The cost to enter a vehicle is $10.

New this year is competitive stunt motorcycle rider Luke "Duke" Emmons. The Connecticut resident will do shows at noon and 2 in the Center Street parking lot behind 85 Main St., sponsored by Ronnie's Cycle.

Attendees will be able stroll streets filled with restored vehicles ranging from classic muscle cars to vintage tractors to high-performance snowmobiles. There will also be entertainment from the band Loose Change, as well as 50/50 raffles and food and shopping. Many downtown establishments will be open.

A portion of the proceeds will support the Northern Berkshire Youth ROPES Summer Program, which provides free weeklong summer camps for more than 250 children. This program is staffed by police officers, firefighters, and teachers from participating cities and towns.

Motorcyclists can join the ROPES Ride, which will be leaves from Holden Street at 10 a.m. Registration will takes place on Holden Street beginning at 9. On their return, the motorcycles will cruise down Main Street through the middle of the show.

The event is run through the city's Office of Tourism & Community Events with a small advisory committee. Other event organizers include Jeff Sylvester and Glenn Maloney from McAndrews-King and Daryl Roy from NAPA Auto Parts, as well as a group of hardworking volunteers. The Night CruZers will lend a hand during the event by handling registration and the 50/50 raffles and announcements happening throughout the day.

A parking ban will be in effect in the following locations beginning at midnight Saturday: Main, Eagle, North Ashland and North Church streets, the Center Street parking lot from light poles in the middle of the lot to Route 2 and in the Steeple City Plaza (former Kmart parking lot) from the row closest to TD Bank and All Saints Church to the first median.

Churchgoers will be allowed access to drop off parishioners for First Congregational and the First Baptist churches the day of the event.

Motorama is presented by local radio stations WNAW 1230-AM and WUPE 100.1-FM. Other major sponsors include Collector Car Nation, Ronnie's Cycle, West Oil and Adams Community Bank. Motorama extends a special thank you to all of the local businesses and organizations that have generously supported this event.
