North Adams Open Studios Set For 7th Annual Event

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Eclipse Mill located at 243 Union St. (Route 2) will be hosting the seventh annual North Adams Open Studios event with 12 artist studios opening their doors on Oct 13 and 14. In the downtown area, studios and galleries will be open on Main, Holden, and Eagle streets. In addition, there are artists located at 1315 Mass Ave., 19 Whitman St. and the Beaver Mill at 189 Beaver St. (Route 8).
 
This free event is a creative showcase for local artists held annually in October and organized by a volunteer committee. Maps of The Eclipse Mill and Gallery 51 are available at the North Adams Open Studios website
 
There will be events and demonstration at these various locations throughout the weekend. On Saturday, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Eclipse Mill:
 
► Studio 104: Clay demonstrations at River Hill Pottery to take place both days at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3  Free make-your-own clay project will be given to children 12 and under while supplies last.
 
► Studio 101: Lisa Nilsson will hold an ”Art Jam” where you can see artists at work.
 
► Studio 201: David Lane will have a Shadow puppet demonstration at 2 p.m. each day.
 
Beaver Mill:
 
► Gravity Press will be doing Live Printing both afternoons. Wet prints will be available for purchase.
 
Main Street:
 
► Press Gallery will have a letterpress printing demo on Saturday from 1 to 4.
 
► Gallery 51 will have artists working in the gallery on Saturday from 11 to 3.
 
 
Bonus to Visitors:

► Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art  will offer free admission passes  for the weekend available at the artist studios.
 
► North Adams Movie Plex will have a free showing of "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. Limited seating.

North Adams Public Schools To Host Grade Configuration Forum

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams Public Schools will host a community forum to discuss updates on grade configurations and logistics for the 2024-2025 school year.
 
The forum will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 6 PM. The forum will take place in a hybrid format at the Welcome
Center at Brayton Elementary School and via Zoom which can be accessed by going to napsk12.org/ZoomLinkMay15.
 
Forums are open to anyone interested in learning more about the logistics planned for the upcoming school year, including, transportation, arrival and dismissal times, class sizes, and school choice updates. The forum will also allow participants to ask questions and provide feedback.
