PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The donor of the city's Christmas tree didn't want to be thanked, or even mentioned.
His or her only request was that a veteran be given the honor to light it.On Friday, Air Force veteran and city native Carmen Provenzano was given that honor, and lit up the multi-colored tree in front of hundreds at Park Square.
The annual tree lighting featured the Taconic High School Chorus singing carols, free hot chocolate from Patrick's Pub and a visit from Santa Claus.
The Christian Center's food pantry was collecting non-perishable food items.
