Hometown Holidays is a month of fun, family activities and shopping bargains leading up to Christmas. Each Thursday night will feature different specials and activities for people to enjoy downtown. For activities on Thursday, Dec 6 scroll down on this page! On December 13 Santa will be at Lumps's/Emporium and at Shima at different points in the evening. Dan Morgan from Spruce Hill Photo will be available for Santa pictures. Free hot cocoa at Lums's! Participate in the Snow Flake Scavenger Hunt and prize giveaways!

Hometown Holidays Raffle consists of a large gift basket featuring over $1,000 worth of gift certificates, goods, services and items. Anyone can enter the raffle by bringing receipts equaling $50 or more to the gallery. $50 in receipts gets you one entry, $100 gets you 2, and so on. Receipts have to be for things purchased in North Adams. If you make your purchases during the Hometown Holidays Thursdays, then you get 2 entries per $50 of receipts. The drawing will be held on December 20 at 8pm at Gallery 51.

The Regional Artists' Gallery of the Bennington Museum host paintings by Gregory Scheckler, Professor of Art at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), "Air Quintets and Other Bird Paintings," groups Scheckler's paintings into three categories: small portrait studies of a variety of songbirds, often head studies; medium-sized action portraits, usually with carefully selected props or an individual creature in flight; and larger paintings that present a duet or other grouping of birds. This exhibition includes the first public viewing of three paintings from the artist's new "Air Quintets" series.

Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce open auditions for the 3rd Annual Holiday Showcase, a wintertime variety show that plans to warm the Northern Berkshire melting pot and fill your family with holiday cheer from around the world. Whether you're a musician, poet, actor, dancer, juggler, or any other type of performing artist, there's an opening for YOU, especially if your act highlights any number of world religions and the upcoming holiday season. All types of performers of all ages are encouraged to audition.

Adults of all ages and experience levels are invited to audition. Auditioners will be asked to read scenes from the play. Rehearsals will begin after Christmas with performances scheduled for February 8th-10th and 15th-17th.Due to the structure of the play, a flexible number of actors is needed. Realizing the time which must be committed during the rehearsal process is often a factor that keeps people away from auditions, Mill City selected this show in hopes of getting more people involved without it being a major time commitment.

Spectrum Cable Hearing Set in North Adams

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A public hearing for the renewal of the cable television contract for four North Berkshire communities will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at City Hall. 
 
The 10-year contract with Spectrum/Charter Communications will cover the city of North Adams and the towns of Adams, Cheshire and Clarksburg. 
 
The hearing in Council Chambers is open to residents of all four communities. In-person attendance is encouraged but a remote option is available here via Zoom
 
Topics covered during the hearing will include the future of cable-related community needs and interests (community television) and performance of the operator under the cable license. It does not include internet or other provided services. 
 
The hearing is required under state law as part of the contract renewal process. Any documents or reports relating to the contract can be obtained through the governmental offices of each community.
