Adams Posts Election Calendar, Offices for 2013

ADAMS, Mass. — Town Clerk Haley A. Meczywor has posted the election calendar for the town's 2013 election and the seats available.

Jan. 28 — Nomination Papers available at town clerk's office.
March 11, 5 p.m. — Deadline for incumbent town meeting members to notify town clerk
that they are candidates for re-election (56 days).
March 18, 5 p.m. — Deadline for all candidates other than incumbent town meeting members to submit nomination papers (49 days).
April 3, 5 p.m. — Deadline to withdraw or object to nomination papers (33 days).
April 16, 8 p.m. — Deadline to register to vote in town election (20 days).
April 26, 4 p.m. — Deadline for filing initial Campaign Finance Report. Report period ends 10 days before deadline (Your last election date – 4/22/13) (8 days).


May 6 — Town election, at the town garage, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
June 5, 4 p.m. — Deadline for filing final Campaign Finance Report. Report period ends 10 days before deadline (4/22/13– 5/22/13) (30 days).

Offices up for election this year:

A moderator for a term of one year; two selectmen for terms of three years; a treasurer for a term of three years; an assessor for a term of three years; a Board of Health member for a term of three years; two library trustees for terms of three years; a Planning Board member for a term of five years; a cemetery commissioner for a term of three years; a Housing Authority member for a term of five years; a Redevelopment Authority member for a term of five years; a Redevelopment Authority member for a term of one year; Northern Berkshire Regional Vocational School Committee member for three years; two Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee members to represent Adams for terms of three years, and one Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee member to represent Cheshire for a term of three years.

Ten town meeting member seats will be elected for three years and one seat for two years in Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4; and 10 seats for three years and one for one year in Precinct 5.

Adams Free Library Pastel Painting Workshops

ADAMS, Mass. — Award-winning pastel artist Gregory Maichack will present three separate pastel painting workshops for adults and teens 16+, to be hosted by the Adams Free Library. 
 
Wednesday, April 24 The Sunflower; Wednesday, May 8 Jimson Weed; and Thursday, May 23 Calla Turned Away from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  
 
Registration is required for each event.  Library events are free and open to the public.
 
These programs are funded by a Festivals and Projects grant of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
 
This workshop is designed for participants of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Attendees will create a personalized, original pastel painting based on Georgia O’Keefe’s beautiful pastel renditions of The Sunflower, Jimson Weed and Calla Turned Away. All materials will be supplied. Seating may fill quickly, so please call 413-743-8345 to register for these free classes.
 
Maichack is an award-winning portraitist and painter working primarily in pastels living in the Berkshires. He has taught as a member of the faculty of the Museum School in Springfield, as well as at Greenfield and Holyoke Community College, Westfield State, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
