100-Year-Old Local Law Firm Names New Partner

Michael R. Hinkley

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Local law firm, Donovan & O'Connor announced that Attorney Michael R. Hinkley has been named a new partner in the firm.

Hinkley began his legal career as part of the asbestos litigation team at Weitz & Luxenberg, a prominent New York City firm. A native of Dalton, he and his family returned to the Berkshires in 2002.
 
He received his law degree from Albany Law School in 2005, took and passed the bar exam that summer and then joined Donovan & O'Connor, where he developed his practice as a trial lawyer. Hinkley works primarily at the firm's Pittsfield office, where he continues to focus his practice on trial law, including serious injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and general civil litigation.
 
"It is a privilege, a pleasure, and an honor to continue my work with Donovan & O'Connor," Hinkley said.
 
In addition to his law practice, Attorney Hinkley currently serves as president of the board of governors of the Dalton Community Recreation Association and as president of the board of directors of the Ad-Lib Center for Independent Living.
 
He also serves on the board of directors of Berkshire Children and Families, is a member of the Rotary Club of Pittsfield and serves on the board of trustees of Berkshire Music School. Hinkley is presently a member of the Berkshire Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He lives with his wife, Maureen, and their two children in Dalton.
 
Celebrating 100 years of service to the community this year, Donovan & O'Connor has offices located in North Adams, Pittsfield and Bennington. Other partners in the firm are Donald W. Goodrich, J. Norman O'Connor, Jr., Janice J. Cook, Chris S. Dodig, Stephen N. Pagnotta, Danielle D. Fogarty, Stephen F. Narey and Brigid M. Hennessey.

Dalton CRA May Day Races Return May 5

DALTON, Mass.  — The 47th annual Community Recreation Association May Day Races will be held Sunday, May 5, at Nessacus Middle School, with major sponsorship by Greylock Federal Credit Union.
 
Races include 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer, the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races for ages 8 and under, and a 1-mile Splatter Sprint for ages 8 and up, all with chip timing by Berkshire Running Center, along with an untimed fun walk.
 
The 5K road/trail race, 10K road race and fun walk begin at 9 a.m. The Obstacles & Popsicles races begin at 10 a.m., with the Splatter Sprint immediately following.
 
The first 100 runners to register (combined 5K/10K) will receive a long-sleeve wicking T-shirt. Every participant in the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races will receive a ribbon and freeze pop at the finish line. All proceeds benefit nonprofit CRA and Dalton Youth Center programs.
