Graduations, Awards & Studies
Mark Poirot, son of Kathy Poirot of Adams and Michael and Kory Poirot of Adams, is studying abroad in Rennes, Brittany, France, at Universite de Haute Bretagne, Rennes II for the spring 2013 semester. Poirot, a junior history major at Emmanuel College in Boston, graduated from Hoosac Valley Regional High School.
Santino M. Delmolino of Dalton received a bachelor of science in business administration degree from Western New England University on Feb. 15. Delmolino graduated summa cum laude, which signifies scholastic excellence and is awarded at graduation to students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.80 and above.
Jennifer Ellen Blagg, a senior at Connecticut College in New London, has been named a Winthrop Scholar, the highest academic honor bestowed by the college. Blagg, a 2008 graduate of Lenox High School, is a computer science major.
Winthrop Scholars are members of the senior class who demonstrate exceptional scholarship and promise; this year's 14 scholars were recognized at a ceremony on Feb. 7. The award is named for John Winthrop the Younger (1606-1676), who is credited with founding the city of New London and who served as governor of Connecticut.
Clark University senior Kate Trancynger, of Lenox, won third prize for her oil painting "Psychology of the Body I," in the ninth annual Colleges of Worcester Consortium Student Art Exhibit, a juried exhibition that opened on Feb.15 at the ARTSWorcester Aurora Gallery. The exhibition continues through March 21.
Trancynger was among three Clark student artists who swept the top honors. She is double-majoring in studio art and psychology. She also has had work on display in the Schiltkamp Gallery at the university's Traina Center for the Arts. She is a 2009 graduate of Miss Hall's High School and the daughter of Christopher and Claudia Trancynger of Lenox.
Dillon Bissell of Pittsfield has been named to Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities, compiled by Randall Reilly Publishing. Bissell was nominated by the faculty at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.
Keith Daury of Pittsfield graduated in December 2012 from the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi with a bachelor's degree in golf course management (superintendent).
Brittany Schneider of Williamstown graduated from Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology with an associate in occupational studies degree in arts and imaging studies from RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf in the fall 2012 quarter.

Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has named two Pittsfield residents to dean's list for fall 2012: senior Darren Bushy, a business administration major with a concentration in finance, and sophomore Mckensie Saldo, a communications/public relations major.
Jacqueline Boino, daughter of Kevin and Maureen Boino of Dalton, was named to the fall 2012 honor roll at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Boino, a sophomore, is a Pittsfield High School graduate enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering.

Connecticut College in New London has named the following seniors to the dean's high honors list for earning a grade-point average of 3.78 or more for the fall semester: Amanda Klay of Great Barrington, Jennifer Blagg of Lenox and Tess McGovern of Pittsfield.
Rudy Dousset of Great Barrington was named to the University at Albany's fall 2012 dean's list for outstanding academic achievement.
