AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts baseball team was swept Wednesday morning by Gordon College.  The Trailblazers dropped the opener 8-1 before falling 15-8 in the nightcap. MCLA is now 1-5 overall and Gordon improves to 5-3.

In the opener, the Fighting Scots crossed the plate seven times in the top of the first off MCLA starter Ross Miner.  Gordon used four hits and three errors in the inning to take ultimate control.  The big blow was a two run double from Brian Harrington. Miner eventually settled down after the first and allowed just one more run over the next four innings.

Gordon starter Scott Hall was in command breezing through six innings and allowing just four hits and striking out three to earn the win.

In the nightcap, MCLA jumped out to a quick 5-0 in their half of the
first. Tyler Benoit and Rory Slattery had RBI singles while a Gordon error and wild pitch allowed two other runs to come across.  MCLA tacked on another in the second
as Mike Sullivan doubled home Slayter Aubin, who started the frame off with a single.

Gordon rallied though against DJ Clark and some sloppy defense from the Trailblazers. The leadoff hitter reached on an error and Gordon used three hits and three wild pitches to pull even at 6-6 after the frame.

After a scoreless third, Gordon took controll with a three run fourth off MCLA reliever Robert Jutras. Harrington again provided a big blow for Gordon with a long triple.

MCLA attempted to rally in the sixth as Cody Weaver drove in a pair with a bases loaded double, however Rory Slattery struck out to end the threat.

Gordon added six insurance runs as MCLA committed a pair of costly miscues to put the game out of reach.

Aubin had three hits on the afternoon for MCLA along with Chase Preite.

MCLA will be back in action on Friday when they play Bowdoin to close out their trip.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
