Attendees had the chance to ride in the helicopter and hot air balloon.
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Rotary Club and Berkshire Aviation attracted over 1,300 people to its third annual Bike and Fly at the Great Barrington Airport on Saturday.
The event featured many attractions, including rides in hot air balloons and helicopters, bike rides, a climbing wall and more.
This was the first year the event featured both a 50-mile and 20-mile ride through Great Barrington, Egremont, Sheffield, West Stockbridge and Richmond. Over 100 riders participated, with 46 from the county and the rest from elsewhere in the northeast. One participant even flew in on his own plane and unloaded his bicycle for the ride.
For the children, there was a kids' bike race.
In addition, there were model plane and paragliding demonstrations.
Another new addition to the event was a performance by local folk and bluegrass singer Emily Mure.
The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club, raised about $15,000 to support the local community, with a focus on student education.
