Sculpture, painting, and video wind their way into the works of Shen Wei Dance Arts, where a gesture as simple as an outstretched arm becomes a revelation. Join us for two unforgettable performances, co-presented with Jacob's Pillow dance - The Rite of Spring and the riveting Collective Measures - as we celebrate the final weekend of Xu Bing's glorious Phoenix Project. Say Dance, Say Night: Abbot Cutler Reading

Galley 51 and PRESS: LetterPRESS as a Public Art Project are delighted to host a poetry reading featuring MCLA Professor Emeritus Abbot Cutler, in honor of his new chapbook Say Dance, Say Night. Cutler will share poetry from his new chapbook, a publication by Slate Roof Press, which is a member-run press established in 2004 that is committed to distributing the work of regional poets. Say Dance, Say Night gathers poems from twelve years of writing, ranging from a poem about Cutler's experiences in Borneo in the Peace Corps in the late 60s to recent poems about his father's passing. Refreshments and a small reception will follow the reading. Say Dance, Say Night and other chapbooks and prints will be for sale.

David Dorfman's Prophets of Funk sold out a six-night stand at Jacob's Pillow. Prior to its fall premiere at BAM's Next Wave Festival, Dorfman is in residency at MASS MoCA with a new multimedia work driven by the charged poetry and ferocity of indie, punk,and folk-rock music. Five dancers, a band of musicians, a junk sculpture-contributed to by the audience-and stunning projections create a kinetic anthem about humanity.

Join the Hoosic River Revival for the next guided walking tour along the Hoosic River. The tour meets at the parking lot side of the MASS MoCA entrance on Marshall Street in North Adams. All walks last 45 minutes to an hour, and feature stops at sites of historical interest along North Adams' Hoosic River.

The huge sound of Brooklyn-based newcomer Plume Giant belies its three-piece chamber-folk format. The band employs a dozen instruments, infusing its music with soft whispers and vaulting vocals to achieve both intimacy and exaltation. Club B-10 at MASS MoCA was invented for exactly this breed of charming, sometimes strange, always erudite music-maker.

Jesse Hanson is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from the Boston area with a real itch for pursuing music. Jesse has just released her debut album "Back to Boston," now available on iTunes. Jessie recently embarked on her solo career and obtained a looping machine which allows her to be a one-woman orchestra with her electric violin, guitar, and the occasional brass instrument.

Celebrate Columbus Day and the annual Ramble by heading down to the Adams Visitors' Center for RambleFest. This celebration, taking place the day before the Mt. Grylock Ramble, will feature music, food, beer, apple cider, seasonal kids' activities, and more! Dublin Porter and Rebel Alliance will provide music, and local vendors will provide food. Ryder, Hazel & the Dust Bowl Faeries is an electro-acoustic dark folk trio with a gypsy-punk flair. RambleFest Day 2: Annual Greylock Ramble 92 Park Street Adams, MA 8am – 4pm FREE
Join thoudands of other hikers as they make their way up to the summit of Mt. Greylock via the Chesire Harbor Trail. Free shuttles will leave from the library and bring hikers to the trailhead. The first 2,000 people to the top will receive a certificate of accomplishment. Awards will be given for the first to the top, the youngest and oldest hikers to reach the summit, and to the person who has traveled the greatest distance to participate. The hike is 6.6 miles, moderately strenuous, and typically takes 4-5 hours. Leashed pets are permitted.

The Community Art Program at North Adams Regional Hospital presents a new exhibition of more than 200 works by twenty-one area artists, on view October 11th through April 4th.
