Repaving Project Starts Thursday in North Adams11:31PM / Wednesday, October 16, 2013
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — It's like spring in the city.
No, not the recent balmy weather, but the start of roadwork.
Beginning Thursday morning, contractors will begin resurfacing work on State Street from Old State Street (at Doran's Carpet) to the Hadley Overpass and on Marshall Street from St. Elizabeth's Church to River Street.
The first step will be the preliminary grinding off of the old surface, lifting structures and repaving, said Mayor Richard Alcombright.
The work will be done during the day, Monday through Friday, with expectations of traffic delays.
"It is my understanding that the project should not last more than three weeks," wrote Alcombright. "The city is sorry for the inconvenience, however, the end result will be worth it."
