The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Committee welcomes everyone to celebrate the life, principles, and ideals of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 20, by partaking in a "Day of Service" to the community, followed by a celebratory luncheon. Around 9:15 a.m., participants start their choice of a community project with either on-site tasks at MCLA's Church St. Center or off-site at various community locations. Service projects for all ages and abilities include tasks such as painting, cleaning, organizing, building, winterizing, or sewing. The North Adams Office of Tourism & Community Events is looking for a group of volunteers to help staff WinterFest activities. Responsibilities include monitoring the community camp fire, monitoring chowder tasting sites, and helping to set up for WinterFest on February 14th. Berkshire Hill Internship Program

Summer 2014 - Applications available now!

Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP) is an intensive twelve-week arts management internship course structured to integrate theoretical concepts and real-world experience.


B-HIP runs in the Summer and it combines an internship component with a seminar in arts management, talk-backs with the area's leading arts professionals, and full participation in cultural events throughout Berkshire County (Western Massachusetts). Each internship is hand-tailored to suit each interns' needs, interests and talents. Former interns have worked at institutions such as The Clark Art Institute, MASS MoCA, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Shakespeare and Company, and more! $100 weekly stipend and housing provided. Clarksburg Sees Race for Select Board Seat

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town will see a three-way race for a seat on the Select Board in May. 
 
Colton Andrews, Seth Alexander and Bryana Malloy returned papers by Wednesday's deadline to run for the three-year term vacated by Jeffrey Levanos. 
 
Andrews ran unsuccessfully for School Committee and is former chairman of the North Adams Housing Authority, on which he was a union representative. He is also president of the Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council.
 
Malloy and Alexander are both newcomers to campaigning. Malloy is manager of industrial relations for the Berkshire Workforce Board and Alexander is a resident of Gates Avenue. 
 
Alexander also returned papers for several other offices, including School Committee, moderator, library trustee and the five-year seat on the Planning Board. He took out papers for War Memorial trustee and tree warden but did not return them and withdrew a run for Board of Health. 
 
He will face off in the three-year School Committee seat against incumbent Cynthia Brule, who is running for her third term, and fellow newcomer Bonnie Cunningham for library trustee. 
 
Incumbent Ronald Boucher took out papers for a one-year term as moderator but did not return them. He was appointed by affirmation in 2021 when no won ran and accepted the post again last year as a write-in.
