I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the staff of the Wound Healing Center of The Berkshires.
For those that may not be aware, the center is housed on the ground floor of North Adams Regional Hospital, and specializes in the care of serious wounds. I suffered a large hematoma leg injury in a ladder accident while performing some yardwork this past August. The leg quickly became seriously infected and I turned to the Wound Healing Center when it became obvious to me that my regular family practice's office did not have the medical expertise needed to properly treat my injury.
I feel fortunate that I turned to this group when I did. The infection was spreading from my foot to very close to my knee. After a short trial-and-error effort to find the correct antibiotic, the Wound Healing Center, working in conjunction with other health care professionals at North Adams Regional Hospital, put me on the road to recovery.
I continued bi-weekly, and then weekly treatments until Jan. 3 of this year. Now, after about five months, I have been released by the center and back to my normal level of activity. The staff of the center was always courteous and caring throughout my experience. Again, I'd like to thank each of them (especially Ruth), and I hope this correspondence helps to inform the general public that may not know about the Center, that if someone they know suffers a serious wound, this is the place to go. The medical art of properly caring for this type of injury is more specialized than most people think.
