ADAMS, Mass. — The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts athletics department inducted six people into the Hall of Fame this past weekend.

The ceremony, held at Bounti Fare, drew 144 guests as MCLA welcomed the Class of 2014 in to the Hall of Fame.

This year's class features:

  • Ron Shewcraft: retired men's soccer coach
  • Nick Cote: ice hockey
  • Kristin (Parzych) Hildabrand: softball
  • Jen (Maloney) Roosa: women's soccer
  • Mike Mason: men's soccer
  • Bob Delaney: baseball and men's soccer

The special event was hosted by Dan Bosley and also included the inaugural Athletic Director leadership award, given to Jeff Higgins.

Shewcraft led the men's soccer program for 29 seasons as head coach and served as an assistant during his first year in North Adams. He led the program to its first and only final four appearance in 1978 in his first year at the helm.  Shewcraft amassed a 292-184-46 career record that included 16 postseason appearances. He led the team to five Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championships during his career. Back in 2007, MCLA honored his legacy by naming the state-of-the-art turf field after Shewcraft.

Delaney was a standout player for former coach Joe Zavattaro during his 4-year career.  Delaney was instrumental in as a middle-of-the-order hitter. Delaney was a two-time All League performer and was tabbed as the baseball MVP in 1975. He led the team in home runs and RBI during his senior season. He finished his career with 10 home runs and 67 RBI. Delaney was also a member of the men's soccer program, earning MVP honors in 1973 and captaining the team in 1974.

Hildabrand was a two-time All New England selection during her final two softball seasons, while earning All MASCAC honors all four years.  She is still the program record holder for RBI and stolen bases, while ranking in the top four for career hits, home runs and batting average. She was also a two-year captain for MCLA.

Roosa had a stellar career in North Adams. The three-year standout amassed 41 goals in her career and led her team to the regular season championship in 1994. She held the school record for points in a career up until 2009, and was a two time All New England selection during her first two seasons.  A two-time MVP, she also led the MASCAC in scoring as a junior.

Nick Cote had a remarkable three-year run, scoring 73 goals and tallying 31 assists. He led the squad to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game during the 2001-02 season.  He led all of Division 3 in goals following the 2003 season and was a two-time All ECAC first-team selection. Cote was tabbed the MASCAC player of the year during his final two seasons.

Mike Mason was an integral part of three straight NCAA tournament teams. He was a part of the 1978 team that advanced to the National semifinals, while his 1979 squad won the MASCAC championship. He was an All New England selection for his performance during the 1978 campaign.  During his final season in 1979, Mason produced seven goals and six assists for head coach Ron Shewcraft.
