Letters: North Adams Fireworks Was Team Effort

Letters to the EditorPrint Story | Email Story

 To the Editor:

What a wonderful July 4th weekend capped off with the annual fireworks display after the SteepleCats game last week. This event is one of the city’s largest, and folks come from all over the county and Southern Vermont to see them.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all involved with putting on this event as well as the many businesses, media partners and individuals who sponsored financially and in-kind. Without their help and donations, our fireworks would not be possible.

A special shout out goes to George Canales, who for years has coordinated this event with city departments. His dedication to this and our community in many other ways does not go unnoticed. I would also like to thank Veronica Bosley, the city’s director of tourism and community events for her fundraising and promotional efforts. In addition, thanks to our DPW for their prep and cleanup work on the fields, and our Fire and Police departments for their hard work to make certain this event was safe for all. Finally, a very hearty thank you to our longtime partner Berkshire Fireworks from Sandisfield for yet another spectacular show.

There are so many great things going on in the City and so many good folks making them happen.  For a list of events, go to explorenorthadams.com or call Veronica at 413-664-6180.

Thank you again to all.

                                                                                                                                  North Adams Mayor  Richard Alcombright
