Become a caterpillar expert!  This incredible visiting program features over 50 differespecies of native caterpllars, sitting and munching on their host plants right in front of you!  Visitinbiologists and educator Sam Jaffe and his team will tech you all about the caterpillars and point out all of their strange and surprising adaptations.  Included with regular admission.

Friday: Deena Chappell At Marketplace

Deena Chappell started performing with her mom when she was fourteen. Classic Country was the order of the day and she mastered the styles of Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and the rest of the outlaws. When she was sixteen, she started performing with her dad.  Since then, she's performed with some of the best musicians in the Northeast playing bluegrass, rock and roll, swing, folk and blues.

Saturday: Hand-Cut Dovetail Workshop At Hancock Shaker Village

The dovetail joint has long been considered a hallmark of fine woodworking craftsmanship. The Shakers were well versed in hand joinery and used dovetails in boxes, furniture, case construction, and, of course, drawers.  Participants will have a behind-the-scenes opportunity to examine up-close various examples of dovetail joinery from the HSV collection. In this one day workshop, you will make either a pine candle box or a pine tray using dovetail joinery. Tools and materials are provided.

Saturday+: Stick Your Hands In History At Arrowhead

Saturdays in July and August, middle school children will be offered the opportunity to explore the creative intersection of art and history by using objects from the Historical Society's collection to curate an exhibit on the theme of Art & Industry. Local Runners Compete at Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. -- Laura Stephen of Great Barrington finished 26th in the women's 60-64 age group at Monday's Boston Marathon, the top Berkshire County finisher in their division at the 128th running of the event.
 
Stephen crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 42 minutes, 52 seconds, 12,633rd in the overall field of more than 30,000 runners who made the trek from Hopkinton to Copley Square in Boston.
 
More than a dozen Berkshire County residents are listed among the finishers on the Boston Athletic Association website.
 
The fastest of that group was Dalton's Alex White, who finished in 2:38:34 to place 358th overall and 291st among men aged 18 to 39.
 
The race was won by Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia in 2:06.17. Kenya's Hellen Obiri was the fastest woman in the field, hitting the tape in 2:22:37.
