Friday: First Fridays Artwalk!

Enjoy over a dozen different art shows featuring work by over 20 accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Fridays Artswalk and all month long! (In most venues, artists will be present from 5pm to 8 pm)

The free guided tour begins at 5pm on September 5th at the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority's Intermodal Center, 1 Columbus Ave!

The fun doesn't stop at 8! Join the Artswalk After Party from 8-10 pm at the Whitney Center for the Arts.

Friday: WeeMuse Adventures at Berkshire Museum

Little ones can explore the aquarium and three museum galleries. Each week features songs, stories, scavenger hunts, play time, and more. This program is geared towards children 18 months to three years. Older and younger siblings are always welcome.

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's Boyhood is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason's parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, Boyhood charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. It's impossible not to watch Mason and his family without thinking about our own journey.

Friday: Auto Mobile Body Works: First Fridays Artswalk

The Creatures of Habitat Physical Poetry Public Performance Project will perform AUTO MOBILE BODY WORKS and include a premiere of a new work-in-progress scene from the series called, "The Magic is in The Mechanism", beginning at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts as part of First Fridays Artswalk. The performance begins at 8 pm at the Lichtenstein but be prepared to move to alternate outdoor locations.

Friday: The Anti-Violence Labor Day High School Bash

JTE2 Productions invites all high school students (with current high school ID) to enjoy a drama, drug, and alcohol free anti-violence dance party! Spinning the latest genre's of music is Pittsfield's very own DJ Yung. This is a drama-free event geared towards assuring the young attendees will have a safe night, so security will be tight. The $7 over charge includes pizza and drink, anything after will be a $1.

Saturday: Art Lab At Berkshire Museum

Put your observational, and artistic, skills to the test! As you explore the Museum with us, take notes along the way because this week's session of Art Lab will include the making of a field journal!  Every gallery you explore has something to be remembered. We'll help you document all of those memories in your very own book.  Using craft materials, you can design your field journal however you would like and once the program is over, it's your to keep as you continue to make your way through the Museum.  Adult must accompany child. Saturday: Come Get Fresh Under The Stars For The Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market

Come dance up on the roof of the Greystone Building to benefit the Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market! At 5:30pm is an intimate farm-to-table dinner featuring local ingredients, primarily from the farmers and food producers of the Downtown Pittsfield Market, and prepared by the chefs of Mission Bar + Tapas. Sunday: Festival Of Sharing Roots At St. Joseph Church

Hosted by St. Joseph Parish, this event highlights the many cultures that comprise the parish community. The booths will represent seven international cuisines each serving their favorite specialty. Those represented are American, African, Brazilian, French, Irish, Italian and Polish. Activities began at noon and includes local vocalists, musicians and dance groups. Also being offered are raffles, crafts and a tag sale. There will be a free Kiddy Land and Bounce House. The clowns, Stickers and Peachy, will be doing face painting, balloon sculptures and bring your lawn chair for an afternoon of fun and enjoyment.

Tuesday: Word 101 [Computer Lab Class] At Berkshire Athenaeum

This class will review the Word interface, edit an existing document, and create a simple original document. An optional guided half hour of practice will be available at the end of the session. The Computer Lab sessions are taught presuming attendees' ability to type on a computer keyboard; use either a laptop touchpad or a mouse; and enter an address in a browser.

Tuesday: Free Documentary Film Screening - The Ghosts In Our Machine At Berkshire Athenaeum

This visually arresting one-of-a-kind documentary shines a cinematic light on the animals we don't easily acknowledge, the "ghosts” who are the animals trapped within the cogs of our voracious consumer world. Jo-Anne McArthur's epic photo project We Animals is comprised of thousands of photographs taken around the world, documenting animals with heart-breaking empathic vividness. Pittsfield ZBA Member Recognized for 40 Years of Service

Albert Ingegni III tells the council about how his father-in-law, former Mayor Remo Del Gallo who died at age 94 in 2020, enjoyed his many years serving the city and told Ingegni to do the same. 

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — It's not every day that a citizen is recognized for decades of service to a local board — except for Tuesday.

Albert Ingegni III was applauded for four decades of service on the Zoning Board of Appeals during City Council. Mayor Peter Marchetti presented him with a certificate of thanks for his commitment to the community.

"It's not every day that you get to stand before the City Council in honor of a Pittsfield citizen who has dedicated 40 years of his life serving on a board or commission," he said.

"As we say that, I know that there are many people that want to serve on boards and commissions and this office will take any resume that there is and evaluate each person but tonight, we're here to honor Albert Ingegni."

The honoree is currently chair of the ZBA, which handles applicants who are appealing a decision or asking for a variance.

Ingegni said he was thinking on the ride over about his late father-in-law, former Mayor Remo Del Gallo, who told him to "enjoy every moment of it because it goes really quickly."

"He was right," he said. "Thank you all."

The council accepted $18,000 from the state Department of Conservation and Recreation and a  $310,060 from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
