NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Ilya Solarev scored two goals to help the Danbury Whalers hand the Berkshire Battalion a second straight loss on Saturday night at Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink.

Danbury jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period before Tyler Prendergast got the Battalion on the board with a second-period goal.

Solarev scored his second in the last minute of the second period to make it a three-goal game, and the Whalers scored into an empty net to cap the scoring late in the third.

Daniel Palmkvist made 27 saves for Berkshire in the loss.

Berkshire goes on a three-game road trip next weekend to Dayton, Ohio, and Danville, Ill., the first three of nine straight road games.

The Battalion comes home on Jan. 10-11 for a two-game set against Dayton.
