BArT Announces Information Sessions and Shadow Days

ADAMS. Mass. — The Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School will host "Shadow Days" for students interested in enrolling at BART for the 2015-16 school year.

Shadow Days provide students with an opportunity to experience classes alongside current BART students.  Advance registration is required and can be completed by calling Monique Nottke at 413-743-7311 x132 or e-mailing monique.nottke@bartcharter.org.

Grades six and seven can be shadowed Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 8 to 11 a.m. Grades six and eight can be shadowed on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Grade nine can be shadowed on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Families interested in learning more should attend a 6 p.m. Information Session at the school on either Wednesday, Feb. 11, or Thursday, Feb. 12.  The next enrollment deadline for the 2015-2016 school year will be Tuesday, Jan. 13, at noon.

The last day that students will be allowed to transfer into BART for the current 2014-2015 school year is Friday, Feb. 13.

Adams Free Library Pastel Painting Workshops

ADAMS, Mass. — Award-winning pastel artist Gregory Maichack will present three separate pastel painting workshops for adults and teens 16+, to be hosted by the Adams Free Library. 
 
Wednesday, April 24 The Sunflower; Wednesday, May 8 Jimson Weed; and Thursday, May 23 Calla Turned Away from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  
 
Registration is required for each event.  Library events are free and open to the public.
 
These programs are funded by a Festivals and Projects grant of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
 
This workshop is designed for participants of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Attendees will create a personalized, original pastel painting based on Georgia O’Keefe’s beautiful pastel renditions of The Sunflower, Jimson Weed and Calla Turned Away. All materials will be supplied. Seating may fill quickly, so please call 413-743-8345 to register for these free classes.
 
Maichack is an award-winning portraitist and painter working primarily in pastels living in the Berkshires. He has taught as a member of the faculty of the Museum School in Springfield, as well as at Greenfield and Holyoke Community College, Westfield State, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
