PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Greylock Federal Credit Union's annual United Way support surpassed previous records, with a total of $131,185.

Greylock employees raised $100,185 through raffles, Shred Day, flower sales, employee recognition night, trivia night and employee payroll pledges. Ninety percent of employees donated to the 2014 campaign drive. Greylock provided corporate support for the campaign with $31,000, plus half the cost of the 2015 Ford Fiesta donated for the annual car raffle through Greylock’s partnership with Johnson Ford Lincoln Nissan.

Greylock President Marilyn L. Sperling acknowledged the efforts of Greylock’s staff on behalf of Berkshire United Way.

“Greylock employees are a generous group, whether they are donating their time and money to important community efforts like the Berkshire United Way or other activities," she said. "The United Way plays an integral part in our community and once again I am very proud of the way our people came through for the annual campaign.”

The winner of the 2015 Ford Fiesta, donated by Greylock and Johnson Ford Lincoln Mercury Nissan, was Michael R. Mroz, Sr. of Williamstown who works for Onyx Papers. The car giveaway also marked the 15th year that Greylock Federal Credit Union and Johnson Ford Lincoln Nissan have sponsored the drawing which allows the winner to choose between a new car or cash. The winner was chosen at The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Chamber Nite event held at GFCU’s Main Office at 150 West St. on Jan. 21.

Sperling thanked co-captains Kate Gelinas and Jane Curtin, as well as committee members: Terry Arpante, Kathleen Chenail, Dan Dillon, Eric Drayman, Anna Flynn, Joseph Maffuccio, Pete Mirante, Connie Menin, Gerry Murray, Jean Noel, Kathy O’Neil, Deb Prew, Sue Rapkowicz, Grace Vallone, and Deb Wagner. Pittsfield ZBA Member Recognized for 40 Years of Service

By Brittany PolitoiBerkshires Staff

Albert Ingegni III tells the council about how his father-in-law, former Mayor Remo Del Gallo who died at age 94 in 2020, enjoyed his many years serving the city and told Ingegni to do the same.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — It's not every day that a citizen is recognized for decades of service to a local board — except for Tuesday.

Albert Ingegni III was applauded for four decades of service on the Zoning Board of Appeals during City Council. Mayor Peter Marchetti presented him with a certificate of thanks for his commitment to the community.

"It's not every day that you get to stand before the City Council in honor of a Pittsfield citizen who has dedicated 40 years of his life serving on a board or commission," he said.

"As we say that, I know that there are many people that want to serve on boards and commissions and this office will take any resume that there is and evaluate each person but tonight, we're here to honor Albert Ingegni."

The honoree is currently chair of the ZBA, which handles applicants who are appealing a decision or asking for a variance.

Ingegni said he was thinking on the ride over about his late father-in-law, former Mayor Remo Del Gallo, who told him to "enjoy every moment of it because it goes really quickly."

"He was right," he said. "Thank you all."

The council accepted $18,000 from the state Department of Conservation and Recreation and a  $310,060 from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
