NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Berkshire Health Systems has announced that its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential outreach and support to Berkshire County employees and their family members experiencing a variety of behavioral health problems, is expanding to serve Northern Berkshire.

The EAP provides a safe environment for employees and/or their family members who may be at risk or those affected by mental health difficulty, substance abuse, other health conditions and situational stress. EAP’s goal is to provide prompt intervention for these problems in order to reduce the risk of more severe suffering and/or disability.

The BHS EAP program is available for employees of Berkshire Health Systems and its long-term care associate Berkshire Healthcare Systems, which operates facilities in North Berkshire, and also for local companies that contract with BHS for this service.

Beginning April 9, the Employee Assistance Program will have an office in the Clark House of the Northern Berkshire Campus of BMC. The service will be available on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month and will be provided by licensed social worker Susan Gagnon.

The BHS EAP provides short term, evidence based counseling and referral services for a range of personal and interpersonal difficulties. These problems may include normal life transitions or more serious psychological stress, such as: depression and anxiety, family stress, elder care, crisis Intervention and more.

The core clinical services provided by the EAP include: evaluation; individual therapy; couples therapy; family therapy; workshops and educational programs; critical incident debriefing; and work life coaching. In addition, the EAP can develop strategies and techniques for nurturing resiliency, enhancing stress hardiness, motivation, minimizing burnout, and promoting change in oneself and relationships with others.

For more information on the EAP program or to schedule an appointment, call 413-447-2655 or toll free 800-334-3094.
