Fairview Medical Staff Gives Donation to Community
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Fairview Hospital Medical Staff made a $1,000 donation to The People's Pantry in Great Barrington in honor of National Doctors Day.
National Doctors' Day has been held every year on March 30th since 1933. It is a day to celebrate the contribution of physicians who serve our country by caring for its citizens.
Fairview's Chief of the Medical Staff, Dr. Brian Burke, and Kathy Townsend, Medical Staff coordinator, delivered the check to Rosemary Carpenite, who oversees operations of the pantry. In a letter to Fairview-affiliated physicians, Dr. Burke wrote, "We feel exceptionally fortunate to have you as a member of Fairview Hospital’s Medical Staff. You are at the center of the strong network of care that provides accessible, high quality health services for our community. Instead of giving you a tangible gift, our doctors' commitment is best reflected and appreciated by making this gift to help the vulnerable in our community. "
The donation will help the pantry purchase fresh foods to distribute on a weekly basis. In the past year, The People’s Pantry has experienced a sharp increase in families accessing food. The pantry is open every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Christian Cavalry Church on North Plain Road in Great Barrington.
