The Selectmen set the annual town meeting for June 23.

ADAMS, Mass. — The Selectmen on Wednesday set the annual town meeting date and opened the warrant.

The Selectmen also suspended rules at the workshop meeting to vote on a town meeting date.

Town meeting will be Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m. in the C.T. Plunkett School auditorium.

"I think that this still gives us a week before the end of the fiscal year, which will give us time if we need to make any last minute changes," Town Administrator Tony Mazzucco said.

Mazzucco said in the future he would like to move town meeting to an earlier date in June.

The board also approved facility requests for Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School, Hoosac Valley High School, Dana Labbee Summer Basketball, Adams Soccer Club, and Adams/North Adams Babe Ruth.

Selectman Joseph Nowak said he attended a Parks Commission meeting at which commissioners sorted out who has priority use of the fields.

"They went through all of this and at the time it seemed to work well for all involved," Nowak said.

Selectman John Duval asked if there would be a conflict between BArT and Hoosac Valley both using Russell Field.

Nowak said the two schools have an agreement and Hoosac Valley has priority use.

The board also appointed Baily Hisert as seasonal help in the Department of Public Work. Hisert's name was omitted when the board originally appointed the seasonal help.

"I know he worked last year and was pretty valuable from what I heard," Nowak said.
