Adams' Meczywor Homers for MCLA to Lift Blazers to Title Game

Print Story | Email Story
WORCESTER, Mass. - MCLA's Amanda Meczywor and Rachel Quackenbush each belted two run homers in the tenth inning as the second seeded Trailblazers outlasted top seeded Worcester State, 8-4, and advanced to the MASCAC Championship round Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Trailblazers and Lancers each went extra frames on Saturday to advance to the winners bracket game, however MCLA came up clutch with key hits. Using the international tiebreaker, the Trailblazers began the inning with a runner on second. A groundout advanced a runner to third and eventually Angelica Perfido scored on a wild pitch.

Meczywor, a graduate of Hoosac Valley, then drilled a two-out home run to center field to extend to a 6-3 lead.  Following a groundout and an Alex Romano double, Quackenbush connected on a two-run homer to left center field pushing the lead to 8-4.
