WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williamstown Police are 7-3 this season in Cal Ripken Baseball play.
In its sixth game of the season, a 10-6 loss to Lee Fox Homes, Jack Cangelosi went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the offensive attack for Police. Joshua Polumbo and Xander Axt split the pitching duties, combining for seven strikeouts on the day.
In an 11-6 victory over Krispy Kones, Oscar Low had two hits and an RBI, and Polumbo added a hit and a sacrifice fly for Police. Cangelosi struck out 10 over five strong innings to get the win and Low closed things down with a 1-2-3 sixth inning on the mound.
In an 11-1 victory over Duda Construction, Low and Axt combined on a one-hitter with nince strikeouts to lead Police. Col McDermott had a hit, 4 stolen bases and three runs scored to lead the offensive attack for Police.
Last Saturday, Lee Doug Trombley defeated the Williamstown Police, 8-6. Axt pitched four innings and took the loss for Police, with Joshua Polumbo throwing two shutout innings to keep the game close. Polumbo and Thomas Martin both made countless strong plays in the field to keep the score close. Axt had two hits and two RBIs to lead the offensive attack.
On Tuesday, Police beat Duda Construction behind a strong combined pitching effort from Cangelosi and Low. The duo combined for 11 strikeouts, with Cangelosi getting the win. Polumbo had a hit, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored to lead the offensive attack. Jack Gitterman played an outstanding defensive game at first base.
