PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- Brent Rooker scored from first on a two-out single by Mandy Alvarez in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Plymouth Pilgrims to a 1-0 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball League action on Wednesday night.

 

Three North Adams pitchers scattered six hits over eight innings before the winning rally.

 

The 'Cats (11-9) managed four hits themselves, all singles, and had men in scoring position in the fourth and fifth innings but could not cash in.

 

North Adams is home on Friday night against Vermont at 6:30 p.m. and hosts Laconia on Saturday at 6:30 prior to the city's annual Fourth of July Fireworks.
