FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Andre Collins went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to lead the Lanesborough 12-year-old Bulldogs to a 10-4 win over Westminster in the Cal Ripken State Tournament semi-finals.
The Bulldogs will face Ayer-Shirley on Monday at 5:30 at Fitchburg's Anson Field for the state championship.
Lucas Bombardier hit a home run and Ethan Lebatt pitched four strong innings to earn the win on the mound for Lanesborough.
Tyler Cantata pitched a scoreless fifth before Bombardier came on to close things out in the sixth
Westminster loaded the bases with nobody out and a seven-run deficit, but Paulie Roeder stabbed a grounder at third, touched third and threw to first to complete a double play.
The next batter grounded out to Charlie Gratton to end the game.
The Bulldogs, who have players from Lanesborough, Pittsfield, the Lee-Lenox area and Pownal, Vt., went 2-1 in pool play to reach Sunday's semi-final.
Lanesborough beat Naragansset, 19-6, on Friday, lost to Ayer-Shirley, 12-5, on Saturday morning and beat host Fitchburg, 8-5, on Sunday morning.
Ayer-Shirley advanced to Monday's final with a 5-4 win over Greenfield in nine innings on Sunday evening.
