SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- Parker Perez doubled in a run and scored another in the bottom of the first, and the North Adams SteepleCats earned a 2-1 win over Ocean State on Tuesday night in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

He then went on to win the second half of a double-header on the mound as the 'Cats topped the Waves, 6-3.

Perez's double drove home Logan Boyher, who led off the home half of the first with a walk. Two batters later, Victor Sorrento drove in Perez with a single.

Ocean State scored a run in the third, but that was all it could manage against starter Dalton Westfall, who struck out six in five innings, lowering his ERA to .89 in the process.

Travis Laitar earned his third save of the season with two innings of scoreless relief.

In Game 2, Robert Calabrese doubled in two runs in the top of the eighth as the 'Cats rallied for a come-from-behind win.

Ocean State led, 3-0, after four innings, but North Adams battled back with two in the fifth and a Hunter Lee RBI single in the top of the sixth.

Perez earned the win with 4-1/3 innings of relief to improve to 2-1 this season. Jared Habershaw earned the save with 2/3 of an inning of relief.

The SteepleCats (13-12) are home on Wednesday against Mystic at 6:30 at Joe Wolfe Field.
