NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems will unveil a range of new services for the Northern Berkshire community on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the North Adams Campus of Berkshire Medical Center.

The "Neighborhood For Health" initiative is being described as an innovative array of new health-care services that provides expanded access to care and will enhance health and well-being.

A community open house to introduce the new features will be held that Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. on the second floor of the former North Adams Regional Hospital. All in the community are invited to meet the Neighborhood For Health team and tour the "Neighborhood." Visitors to the open house should enter through the main lobby and will be escorted on tours of the second floor.

Just prior to the community open house, Berkshire Health Systems will hold a news conference to announce details of the Neighborhood For Health.

Since the sudden closure of the former North Adams Regional Hospital, Berkshire Health Systems has regularly expanded or restored numerous health-care services in Northern Berkshire, in order to meet the health needs of the community. This has included 24-hour emergency care, outpatient imaging and mammography, outpatient surgery, endoscopy, home care and hospice services, laboratory, access to health insurance, diabetes education, tobacco treatment, nutrition counseling and stabilizing primary and specialty physician practices. The Neighborhood For Health is the latest example of this expansion of services in Northern Berkshire.
