GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Community Health Programs has received a $10,000 grant from GoodWorks Insurance, an independent insurance agency with offices in Great Barrington, Worcester and Connecticut.

“GoodWorks Insurance’s business model of giving back to the community keeps everyone engaged and close and keeps money in the community,” said CHP CEO Bryan Ayars. “Doing it so publicly sets a great precedent for other local companies.”

From its health centers in Great Barrington, Lee and Pittsfield, Great Barrington-based CHP provides medical and dental services to all, regardless of insurance status or residence. Additionally, its family support services offer a safe, welcoming environment for all families with children under 6 and parents who are expecting.

Because CHP’s administrative overhead is less than 8 percent, GoodWorks’s grant “will go “directly to helping provide critical services to our patients in an era when government support is often shrinking,” he added.

“CHP does exemplary work caring for thousands of Berkshire County residents, many of whom wouldn’t be served otherwise. It’s an invaluable community asset and a key charity we’ve supported since 2009,” Chad Yonker, CEO of GoodWorks Insurance, said.

GoodWorks Insurance donates 50 percent of its operating profits via GoodWorks Community Grants to local nonprofits that support education, healthcare and public safety.

Additionally, all CHP employees are eligible for a group auto insurance program developed by GoodWorks Insurance offering an exclusive discount. “It’s a great benefit for our employees,” Ayars said.

GoodWorks insures families and businesses in Massachusetts and Connecticut. It has special expertise working with manufacturers, machine shops, contractors, nonprofits, financial institutions, fuel oil and propane dealers, convenience stores, craft brewers, schools, and medical and dental providers. It also works with associations, nonprofits and businesses to establish group auto and home insurance programs.

The firm’s Berkshire office is at 343 Main St., Great Barrington. More information is online at www.goodworksinsurance.com.
