BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) Foundation has announced the appointment of Carson Thurber as senior gifts officer.

Thurber was assistant principal at the Stratton Mountain School in Stratton, Vt., and vendor coordinator for Burton Snowboard Company in Burlington, Vt. In his new role, he will support the SVHC Foundation in its mission to raise funds for SVHC.

In addition to his background in education and in vendor relations, Thurber owned and managed a fitness company, Body Renew Holding Inc., in Boise, Idaho, and interned with Capital Analyst in Quincy, Mass. In that role, he conducted estate and succession planning and consulted individuals regarding their life insurance policies.

“Carson has a diverse background and an exceptional track record in driving the success of the organizations he has worked for,” said Andrew Bisselle, director of the foundation. “We expect Carson’s experience to be an asset as we continue the traditions of philanthropy and exceptional health care in southwestern Vermont.”

Thurber received his bachelor’s degree in business management from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. During a Semester-at-Sea study abroad experience, he visited the South America, Africa and Asia.

“I am proud to have joined this service-minded team and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the impact that the SVHC Foundation makes in the health of the community,” Thurber said.

Thurber lives in Woodford, Vt., with his wife Ali and two young children.
