Cheshire Students Treated to Night of Science

CHESHIRE, Mass. — The Cheshire PTG hosted Family Science night for the second year on Wednesday, March 16.

With the help of school principal Peter Bachli and several staff members, the PTG officers and parent volunteers organized a night of science demonstrations and hands-on experiments.

Stations included messy "oobleck" (from the Dr. Seuss story), lava lamps, made bouncy balls (messy), made bath bombs, and shot-off rockets.

In addition, there were several colorful experiments with walking water, milk swirl and fireworks in a jar. Some experiments were about weighing and measuring and combining different ingredients to see how they react. There also was a sparkly explosion demonstration (kind of like a volcano but with a vase and glitter).

The volunteers explained the science behind each experiment and how it worked as they demonstrated. This was a free event open to anyone. The PTG hopes to continue the event next year.
