Plymouth Outslugs SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats (6-5) and the Plymouth Pilgrims (4-7) combined for 18 runs and 28 hits on Tuesday night at Joe Wolfe Field with the SteepleCats coming up on the short end of a 10-8 loss.
 
‘Cats starter Peter Lannoo lasted 3-⅓ innings and surrendered seven runs off 10 hits and struck out two. Pilgrim starter Thomas Lane went four innings and gave up three runs off six hits and struck out four.
 
The Pilgrims got the bats going in the third inning when they scored two runs to tie the game at two. They then jumped on top in the fourth with a five run inning in which they sent nine hitters to the plate and took 7-2 lead. They added an insurance run in the eighth and two more in the ninth in an inning where the ‘Cats defense committed three errors.
 
With their backs against the wall, the ‘Cats rallied with a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to trim the deficit to 7-6. Trailing 10-6 going into the bottom of the ninth, the ‘Cats continued to fight back scoring two runs before falling 10-8.
 
The ‘Cats next game at Joe Wolfe Field will 6:30 p.m. on Friday against the Vermont Mountaineers.

BAAMS' Monthly Studio 9 Series Features Mino Cinelu

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On April 20, Berkshires' Academy of Advanced Musical Studies (BAAMS) will host its fourth in a series of live music concerts at Studio 9.
 
Saturday's performance will feature drummer, guitarist, keyboardist and singer Mino Cinelu.
 
Cinelu has worked with Miles Davis, Sting, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Vicente Amigo, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Pino Daniele, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Salif Keita.
 
Cinelu will be joined by Richard Boulger on trumpet and flugelhorn, Dario Boente on piano and keyboards, and Tony Lewis on drums and percussion.

All proceeds will help support music education at BAAMS, which provides after-school and Saturday music study, as well as a summer jazz-band day camp for students ages 10-18, of all experience levels.
 
Also Saturday, the BAAMS faculty presents master-class workshops for all ages, featuring Cinelu, Boulger, Boente, Lewis and bassist Nathan Peck.
