ADAMS, Mass. — The town issued an RFP in search of developers and operators for the proposed Greylock Glen campground.

Earlier this month the town released a request for proposals seeking developers and operators to design, finance, construct, operate and manage the 140-site campground at the Greylock Glen.

The campground is part of a planned 56 acre $50 million resort project to be developed by the Town, in partnership with private sector and/or not-for- profit developers.

The proposed project will contain an amphitheater, an outdoor center, lodging, hiking trails and a conference center. The plan also calls for 1,000 acres of land set aside as conservation land making the project both environmentally conscious and economically beneficial to the Northern Berkshires.

The project has been issued a Certificate from the Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs under the MA Environmental Policy Act and is ready to proceed. The project will be designed and operated using sustainable practices for storm water control, groundwater recharge, and energy efficiency measures, among others.

The development of the Greylock Glen has seen many forms over its 30 years attempted development, however after the town signed the 100-year master lease with the state in 2014 the project was reinvigorated allowing the town to act as the developer of the project.

For the past few years, the Glen has been a main focus of the town even with designated funds to advertise the project.

The master plan for the resort was developed with the guidance and input of Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Massachusetts College Of Liberal Arts, Mass Audubon and the Appalachian Mountain Club.

Bids on the project must be received no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29.
