Adams Alerts Win Three Parade Trophies
ADAMS, Mass. — Alert Hose Company 1 participated in the Bennington (Vt.) Battle Days parade on Aug. 14 and were recognized for their appearance and apparatus.
Members pulled the company's famous parade hose cart that was built in 1885. The department is known for wearing its dress Prince Albert-style buff and white uniforms. This rare uniform style has been preserved by the company as a memorial to its predecessors and is worn proudly with distinction by the Alerts today.
The Alerts took home three new trophies awarded by the Vermont State Firefighters Association: best appearing antique hand-drawn equipment from out of state, best appearing marching unit with or without antique apparatus from out of state, and lastly, Bennington Battle Day 2016 oldest hand-drawn antique fire-related equipment.
