BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians have expended their joint orthopedic practice, located at 332 Dewey St., with the addition of three outstanding orthopedists.

Beginning January 1, 2017, patients with painful joints, complex fractures, and sports-related injuries will find greater access to an exceptional physician group, enhanced services, and a renovated office environment at SVMC Orthopedics.

The new orthopedic physicians include doctors Jonathan Cluett; Suk Namkoong and James R. Whittum. Together, they were in practice at Orthopedic Associates of Northern Berkshire, in North Adams, Mass. They join Dr. Matthew Nofziger, who has been on the medical staff at SVMC since 2004. All four physicians are certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

"Drs. Cluett, Namkoong and Whittum are extremely talented, board-certified orthopedic physicians," stated Dr. David S. Jevsevar, MBA, Chair of Orthopaedics and Vice President of the Orthopaedic Service Line at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. "Teamed with Matt Nofziger, their patient-centered approach and stellar outcomes will enhance the clinical excellence of SVMC Orthopedics creating an all-star unit."

The SVMC Orthopedics team is trained in the management of problems including sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery, arthritis care and joint replacement, fracture management and orthopedic emergencies. They use the latest in both surgical and non-surgical techniques combined with a customized rehabilitation program, helping patients get back to living an active, pain-free life.

SVMC Orthopedics performs complete joint replacements; minimally invasive surgeries; rotator cuff repair; surgeries on hands, wrists, feet, elbow and ankles; and arthritis care. SVMC Orthopedics welcomes new and existing patients from the communities of Bennington and Windham Counties of Vermont, eastern Rensselaer and Washington Counties of New York, and northern Berkshire County in Massachusetts.

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock are engaged in recruiting additional orthopedic providers for the regional practice, and anticipate further growth to the team in 2017. In addition to the new physicians, the SVMC Orthopedics office in Bennington will undergo a significant renovation, including updated patient rooms, a new waiting area and patient-friendly entryway, and an upgraded in-office procedure room.
