Hoyt Announces Run For Adams Board of Selectmen
A small group attended the announcement.
"After a lot of thought and consideration and support from family and friends I felt it was time to take that next step as it relates to being involved in the town of Adams," Hoyt said. "With that, with enthusiasm, I stand here today and announce my candidacy for the town of Adams selectman."
Hoyt said she has lived in Adams for more than 10 years and believes it to be a truly special place.
"When my husband and I looked at housing in the North Berkshires we felt that Adams was a very special place and in that time, we have become members of this community getting involved with organizations of interest and where we thought we could make a difference," she said.
Hoyt is assistant to the dean for community engagement and workforce development at Berkshire Community College and previously was director of programs and events at the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Youth Center Board, the economic development commission and the ProAdams board of directors.
She said she also has worked for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, has developed many regional and state connections and has a range of skills that could benefit the town and local businesses
"Over the last nine years, I have worked directly with businesses in Berkshire County to address their needs and concerns as well as tell their stories," Hoyt said. "With over 200 business in town, it is important to support them and celebrate their milestones."
She added that she is also passionate about finding opportunities for youth in the community as well as supporting the needs of the elderly.
Hoyt thanked everyone who attended her announcement for their support.
"As a selectman, I will strive to seek balanced sensible solutions and make sure Adams remains a welcoming place where we can all afford to live work and play," she said. "Adams is a special place and it continues to be a special place to all of us in this room and that is why it is important that we keep it that why.
"That’s why I decided to run ... I would be honored to serve the town in the capacity of selectman and I would ask for your vote May 1."
Hoyt will vie against Elizabeth Bushey, Michael Mach and Cassie Witek for three-year seat being vacated by current Chairman Jeffrey Snoonian,
