BHS Expands Orthopedic Care in Northern Berkshire

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates, an affiliate of Berkshire Health Systems and the premier provider of orthopaedic services in the Berkshires, has expanded its services to Northern Berkshire with a new office at the North Adams Campus of BMC. 

The state-of-the-art space, which includes in-office X-Ray and Rehabilitation, is located on the first floor of the North Adams Campus, conveniently just off the main lobby.

“Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates is committed to providing the most advanced care for North Berkshire patients in need of orthopaedic services,” said Dr. Kevin Mitts, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who, along with his partners has pioneered the latest joint replacement procedures in the region. “In addition to the opening of this new office to serve our Northern Berkshire and Southern Vermont patients, we will be welcoming a new surgeon to Berkshire Orthopaedics in the very near future and practicing out of the North Adams location.”

Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates features Dr. Mitts, Jeffrey Cella, MD, Anthony DeFelice, DO, Michael Nancollas, MD, Mark Sprague, MD, and David Grygier, MD. They have offices in Pittsfield and Great Barrington, in addition to the new North Adams location.

Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates provides comprehensive care, including non-invasive treatments, minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery and full joint replacement surgery for knees, hips and shoulders, along with hand surgery and rehabilitation services. The surgeons at Berkshire Orthopaedics provide anterior hip replacement surgery, the most advanced procedure for hip replacement, and use the Mako Assisted Arthroplasty technology for hip and knee surgery.

With the expansion of Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates to Northern Berkshire, the North Adams Campus of BMC will provide outpatient, minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery at the Campus, in state-of-the-art operating suites.

BAAMS' Monthly Studio 9 Series Features Mino Cinelu

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On April 20, Berkshires' Academy of Advanced Musical Studies (BAAMS) will host its fourth in a series of live music concerts at Studio 9.
 
Saturday's performance will feature drummer, guitarist, keyboardist and singer Mino Cinelu.
 
Cinelu has worked with Miles Davis, Sting, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Vicente Amigo, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Pino Daniele, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Salif Keita.
 
Cinelu will be joined by Richard Boulger on trumpet and flugelhorn, Dario Boente on piano and keyboards, and Tony Lewis on drums and percussion.

All proceeds will help support music education at BAAMS, which provides after-school and Saturday music study, as well as a summer jazz-band day camp for students ages 10-18, of all experience levels.
 
Also Saturday, the BAAMS faculty presents master-class workshops for all ages, featuring Cinelu, Boulger, Boente, Lewis and bassist Nathan Peck.
